Intellectual renewal between two verses of the Holy Quran our Martyr al-Sadr opened his book (The Logical Foundations for Induction) with a verse from the Holy Qur’an, which is the Almighty’s saying on the tongues of the angels “Glory be to You! We have no knowledge except what You have taught us. You are truly the All-Knowing, All-Wise.”
Then he set sail with his thought and human intellect, to understand the history of knowledge, and to dive into its depths, and to judge its geniuses to extract his opinion, a new trend in Epistemology, this trend reveals the logical foundations of inductive reasoning, and explains the bulk of human knowledge in an inductive way.
Our Martyr al-Sadr employed this new cognitive trend in most of his books, research and lessons, and in various humanitarian and religious fields, theological, intellectual, cultural, Qur’anic, in the Principle of Jurisprudence , jurisprudential, historical, general and specific study of the narrations, the study of the narrators, and others.
Then he concluded his book with another verse from the Holy Qur’an, which is the Almighty’s saying: “We will show them Our signs on the horizons, and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is a Witness over all things?”
We see that his aim in that Qur’anic opening and closing is to convey the following message: And it is that when we give our minds control of thinking, innovation and renewal in various fields and human and religious knowledge, we do not deviate from the Qur’anic framework, and we do not violate religious instructions and directives. Quite the opposite, because we are guided in our entire mental and intellectual movement by the Almighty’s saying: “that they may reflect”.
May God have mercy on our Sayed Martyr Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr. God sanctify his pure soul
